Rare House

Invercargill, Southland

Positioned at the rear of the site, this home completes a series of three dwellings designed to maximise privacy, sunlight and outdoor connection. The simple mono-pitch form continues the architectural language established across the development while responding to its more sheltered position on the site. Inside, a light-filled open-plan kitchen, dining and living area sits beneath a raking ceiling, with clerestory glazing drawing daylight deep into the interior. Large sliding doors open directly to a generous deck, extending the living spaces outdoors and creating a private courtyard-like setting. Vertical metal cladding and a restrained material palette reinforce the development’s cohesive architectural expression while providing a durable and contemporary finish.
