Between Peaks
Queenstown, Otago
Set within the expansive landscape of the Wakatipu Basin, this home responds to its alpine setting with a composed, low-slung form that sits quietly within the site. Rather than adopting the typical gabled language of the area, the design introduces a series of intersecting volumes that frame views while maintaining a restrained architectural presence. An H-shaped plan organises the home around sheltered outdoor spaces, balancing private retreat with open living areas oriented toward Coronet Peak and the Remarkables. A layered palette of aluminium cladding, plastered panels and honed stone veneer adds depth and texture. The project was recognised as a National Finalist in the Resene Colour in Design Awards 2022 celebrating the careful integration of material, form and landscape.
